Set in 1960s rural Punjab, the story follows Channan, a farmer with a knack for machinery who is married to Pakko. When he notices how much more respect his motorcycle-owning brother-in-law commands from the family, Channan becomes determined to own a motorbike of his own, leading him into trouble after acquiring one of questionable origin. His resulting legal problems put his marriage and family life at risk, setting off a chain of complications he must find a way to resolve.
