The film centers on Harish Mishra, a retired stage actor devoted to Shakespeare who is coaxed by a young director into taking his first film role, an experience that leaves him hospitalized and comatose. As his co-star Shabnam visits him and connects with his caretaker Vandana, their conversations and a journalist's recollections gradually reveal his past on stage, his relationships, and the circumstances behind his condition. The narrative moves between present-day Kolkata and flashbacks to the film's shoot in Mussoorie, exploring the tension between theatre and cinema as art forms.
