My Beautiful Laundrette

In 1980s London, a young British man of Pakistani descent takes on the task of running his uncle's neglected laundrette while also caring for his alcoholic father. When he reconnects with a childhood friend now involved in a far-right street gang, the two rekindle their bond and become romantically involved as they work together to renovate the business, navigating family expectations, community politics, and criminal entanglements along the way.
