Set during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War, this Chetan Anand-directed war film focuses on the Indian Air Force's efforts in the western sector, following a strike on an Indian airbase that prompts a pilot's vow of retaliation. The plot centers on a covert operation in which a woman resembling the fiancée of a Pakistani pilot infiltrates Pakistan as a TV singer to help Indian forces locate a radar unit that is disrupting their communications. It dramatizes real military events from the war, drawing on the same director's earlier work depicting Indian conflicts on screen.
