Set during the Japanese occupation of China, this historical erotic thriller follows a resistance cell linked to the Kuomintang as it plots to assassinate a senior intelligence officer working for the collaborationist Wang Jingwei government. To get close to their target, one of the group's members becomes his lover, drawing her into a dangerous game of deception. The film is adapted from a novella by Eileen Chang.
