A man who turned to petty crime as a child to support his sister has grown into a skilled thief in his village. When a corrupt landlord holds the deed to his family home as collateral on an old debt, he devises a scheme to pose as a suitor to the landlord's daughter in order to recover it. The situation escalates when the landlord frames him for a crime he did not commit.
