Toby

Set in the Kumta area of Uttara Kannada, this Kannada-language drama follows a newly posted police officer who begins probing the disappearance of a mute man named Toby after his foster daughter Jenny raises an alarm at the station. As the officer questions people connected to Toby, including a priest, a sex worker, a mortuary worker and a neighbor, a layered picture emerges of Toby's troubled past and his ties to a manipulative village strongman. The story is adapted from a short piece by T.K. Dayanand, with the lead actor also reshaping it into the film's screenplay.
