Set in rural Madurai, the story follows Sakthivel, a London-educated young man who returns to his father's village hoping to start a restaurant business in Madras and marry his girlfriend from Andhra Pradesh. His father, a respected village chieftain, wants him to instead stay and support the community, which is torn by a long-running feud with a rival branch of the family. As tensions escalate into violence affecting the whole village, Sakthi is drawn into the conflict and forced to reconsider his own plans.
