Set in the Theni region, this Tamil drama follows Murugan, a young goatherd raised by his devoted widowed mother Veerayi. When Murugan and his companions capture a girl named Pechi during a raid by a gang that steals villagers' livestock, he falls for her despite her family's fearsome reputation as the thieves behind such attacks. His mother, wary of the family's dangerous past, urges him to give up Pechi and marry someone else, setting off a rift between mother and son that others in the community try to help resolve.
