This 1981 Tamil crime drama, a remake of the Hindi film Deewaar, follows two brothers whose family is torn apart after their father, a labour leader, is coerced by a corrupt businessman and shamed before his community. Left destitute, the mother raises her sons in the city, where the elder becomes entangled in smuggling and organised crime while the younger grows up to join the police force. Their diverging paths eventually place the brothers on opposite sides of the law, straining their family bonds.
