Take Off follows Sameera, a Kerala nurse who takes a job in Iraq for better pay despite family opposition, and remarries a supportive colleague before relocating with a group of fellow nurses. As sectarian violence escalates around them, she balances a fragile reunion with her son and a new pregnancy while her husband joins a medical team sent toward a conflict zone. When the region falls under militant control, Sameera and her colleagues become trapped, prompting a desperate push for outside intervention. The 2017 Malayalam drama dramatizes the real-life ordeal of Indian nurses caught in the 2014 Iraq crisis.
