Shabd follows Shaukat Vashisht, a celebrated author who has struggled creatively since an early literary triumph, and his wife Antara, a college lecturer. When he decides to craft a new story loosely based on Antara, he begins closely watching her and discovers she has caught the attention of a young teacher named Yash, though she has kept both her marriage and this admirer secret. As Shaukat weaves their real lives into his fiction, he becomes convinced his writing can shape their actual destinies, leading events between Antara and Yash to spiral in unexpected ways.
