This Tamil musical drama follows Peter Johnson, an aimless young man from a mridangam-making family, who becomes captivated by classical percussion after witnessing renowned mridangam player Vembu Iyer perform. Determined to prove himself, Peter earns a place as Iyer's student, forming friendships and facing rivalries, including a vengeful former assistant who schemes to humiliate both teacher and student through a televised music competition. As personal setbacks and self-doubt push Peter into a difficult period, a budding romance and encouragement from those close to him inspire him to seek out rhythm and musical knowledge beyond his teacher's studio.
