Santhi (1965) is a Tamil drama about two close friends, played by Sivaji Ganesan and S. S. Rajendran, whose bond is tested when Rajendran's character is presumed dead after a hunting accident. To protect Rajendran's blind wife from the shock of losing her husband, Sivaji's character takes on his identity, leading to complications once her sight is later restored and the truth threatens to unravel. Directed by A. Bhimsingh and produced by A. L. Srinivasan, the film later inspired a 1968 Hindi remake titled Gauri.
