Directed by Suresh Krishna — Rahman

This 1999 Tamil musical drama centers on the tension between classical Carnatic music and Bharatanatyam on one side and rural folk music and dance traditions on the other, exploring the biases and misunderstandings that separate the two camps. Amid this cultural clash, the children of the leading practitioners from each tradition—a trained classical dancer and a folk performer—fall for one another, only to run into resistance from the young woman's father over their romance.
