This 1982 Hindi drama follows Avinash, a principled young man from a wealthy family who rejects materialism and supports himself as a freelance writer, and Geeta, a mill owner's daughter drawn to his idealism. After defying their families to marry, the couple struggles financially, with Geeta juggling teaching jobs and Avinash working exhausting night shifts. Facing mounting money pressures, Avinash takes a job at a friend's publishing firm and gradually finds his values being tested by the demands of business life.
