Raktha Kanneeru follows Mohan, a wealthy young man who returns home from studies abroad with a haughty attitude toward those less privileged, including his own mother. After marrying a traditional cousin at his mother's wishes, he abandons her on their wedding night for a courtesan named Kantha, spiraling into ruin as he squanders his fortune and neglects his family in pursuit of her. His friend Balu repeatedly tries to steer him back onto a better path as Mohan's life unravels further.
