A young tutor arrives at the home of a stern retired colonel to care for his five estranged grandchildren, whom previous teachers have been unable to manage. Through compassion and understanding rather than discipline, the tutor gradually transforms the children's behavior and helps reconcile them with their grandfather. Meanwhile, the tutor and the eldest grandchild develop feelings for each other, complicating matters when he must leave for a job opportunity in the city.
