Nyayam Kavali is a 1981 Telugu legal drama, adapted from D. Kameswari's novel Kotta Malupu, about a lawyer's son who seduces and then abandons women after brief affairs. When a middle-class woman named Bharathi Devi becomes pregnant by him and he refuses to marry her, she chooses to keep the child and seek legal recognition of his paternity, aided by a women's-rights lawyer whose own past mirrors her situation. The film follows the ensuing courtroom battle between the two families as it explores themes of responsibility, social stigma, and justice for women.
