Lovers

Set in Goa, this 1983 Hindi drama follows Viju, a young man raised by his music-teacher mother, who falls for Mary, the sister of a wealthy landlord named David, when she returns home from Bombay. David reacts violently to their romance and tries to force Mary into a different marriage, while also facing conflict with his own wife after mistreating a household worker. As tensions escalate, David turns to the villagers to stop the couple by any means, setting up a struggle between the young lovers and the social forces determined to keep them apart.
