Set largely in Saudi Arabia, this 2011 Malayalam drama follows a widowed Kerala woman who, facing financial hardship after her husband's death, travels abroad to work as a domestic helper. Once there she encounters exploitation and mistreatment under her employer, while a fellow migrant who helped arrange her journey and a social worker who searches for missing Indian workers become entangled in her ordeal. Directed by Kamal and based on a real-life account of a Kerala housemaid's experience in Arabia, the film examines the struggles of migrant laborers in the Gulf region.
