Kattradhu Thamizh

This 2007 Tamil psychological thriller, marking director Ram's debut, follows Prabhakar, a Tamil-language schoolteacher in Chennai whose devotion to his mother tongue leaves him marginalized in a city reshaped by the rise of the IT sector and its material aspirations. Isolated and increasingly unstable, he ends up on the run from police after a violent act, later recounting his troubled past—including his upbringing, mentorship under a beloved teacher, and a deep bond with a childhood love—to a kidnapped television host. Though it underperformed at the box office on release, the film later gained recognition as a cult favorite.
