Kana Kandaen is a 2005 Tamil-language thriller marking K. V. Anand's directorial debut, adapted from Subha's novel Pudhaithaalum Varuven. It follows Bhaskar and Archana, two childhood friends who reunite and build a life together after she leaves an unsuitable marriage, as he works to develop a desalination plant to address a water shortage. Their efforts are complicated when a ruthless moneylender who initially offers financial help turns against them, leading to escalating conflict.
