In a Tamil village, a strict, unbending patriarch named Chithambaram clashes repeatedly with a young man called Suresh, unaware that Suresh has fallen in love with his daughter Kausalya during a temple festival visit to her grandfather's home. As Chithambaram's hostility toward Suresh grows, complicates matters when the rest of the family learns of the couple's romance, while Kausalya also faces harassment from another man, pushing the situation toward a crisis over whether her father will ever accept the relationship.
