Ilaignan is a 2011 Tamil historical action drama, adapted from Maxim Gorky's novel Mother, about a young man named Karky who leads a rebellion of workers against a ruthless shipyard owner and his wife. His mother initially favors a peaceful path but eventually urges him toward direct confrontation as the owner's cruelty escalates, while the owner's sister quietly aids Karky's cause.
