A documentary photographer traveling through rural Karnataka encounters a village girl who has been designated a 'Basavi'—a figure bound by religious custom to serve guests as divine visitors, a practice analogous to the historical 'Devdasi' system. As he learns about her constrained circumstances and attempts to challenge her beliefs, he confronts the tension between his urban perspective and the entrenched traditions of her community.
