This 1992 Hindi-language adaptation of Dostoevsky's novel 'The Idiot' transplants the story to present-day Mumbai. It centers on a character named Prince Miskin, played by Ayub Khan-Din, whose seizures are misread by those around him as a sign of simplemindedness. Directed by Mani Kaul, the film also features Shah Rukh Khan and had its premiere at the New York Film Festival.
