Set against the Kashmir insurgency of the mid-1990s, the story follows Haider, a young poet and student who comes home after his father, a local doctor, vanishes following a military raid. As he searches for answers through detention camps and police contacts, he grows suspicious of his uncle's closeness with his mother and is drawn into the region's violent political turmoil. The film reworks Shakespeare's Hamlet within this real-world conflict, blending personal grief with the broader unrest gripping the valley.
