A large, quarrelsome joint family is thrown into disarray by constant bickering, until an unusual new servant joins their household. His cheerful nature, tireless work ethic, and surprising range of talents gradually win over every member of the family, including its ailing patriarch, helping them rediscover harmony and affection for one another. Tapan Sinha's 1966 Bengali comedy-drama went on to inspire several remakes in other Indian languages.

Where to watch in USA

We checked the streaming catalogues and it isn’t on any service we cover — in any country, not just yours. Films leave and return, so this can change.

We check JioHotstar, Eros Now, Sun NXT, Prime Video, ZEE5 and 13 others. If it is streaming somewhere we don’t read, it won’t show up here — tell us and we’ll add it.
