This 1996 romantic drama follows two women in a joint household who form an intimate relationship after each finds herself trapped in an emotionally empty marriage. Adapted from a 1942 short story, the film explores desire and personal agency within the constraints of family tradition and religious doctrine. It was groundbreaking as one of the first mainstream Indian films to depict a lesbian relationship.
