An eight-year-old boy from a wealthy family, neglected by his busy professional parents, forms a close bond with his neighbor, a lawyer and recovering alcoholic. When the child becomes aware of the concept of divorce through a court case, he begins to seriously pursue legal separation from his parents, prompting his neighbor to take on the case and setting in motion events that lead to significant legal and family consequences.
