A young cabaret performer raised in a brothel learns on her adoptive mother's deathbed that she was given up as a baby, prompting her and the man who loves her to search for her birth mother. The trail leads to three former college friends who once shared a secret pregnancy and a pact about raising the resulting child, each now living very different lives. As old secrets resurface, the young woman's search brings her into conflict with hotel owners and criminal elements tied to her past.
