This 1963 Bengali musical romance follows a wealthy industrialist's son who abandons his family's business over his passion for music, moving to Calcutta and building a secret singing career under an assumed name. While working incognito as a mechanic and driver for a rich household, he falls for the owner's niece, who happens to be an ardent fan of the very singer he secretly is, leading to a tangle of mistaken identities and family conflict. Produced and scored by Shyamal Mitra, the film is built around its songs and comic romantic complications, drawing loosely on Mitra's own life.
