A wealthy but aimless young man, Rajiv Menon, decides he wants a child of his own without marrying or adopting, and arranges for a struggling former athlete and his wife to have his baby through surrogacy in exchange for financial help. As the pregnancy progresses, Rajiv devotes himself to ensuring the mother's wellbeing, while the arrangement forces both families to confront the emotional complications of the deal. Directed by Sibi Malayil and written by A. K. Lohithadas, the 1989 Malayalam drama stars Mohanlal and Rekha in lead roles.
