Set in Mumbai during the aftermath of the early-1980s textile strike, this 2010 political thriller follows a mill worker's family struggling with unemployment and poverty as their household unravels under financial and personal pressures. Their story unfolds against a broader backdrop of shuttered mills, in which factory owners, politicians, and union leaders maneuver for control over the valuable mill lands, leaving the workers caught in the fallout. Based on a Marathi play, the film was also produced simultaneously in a Marathi-language version.
