Set in suburban Kolkata, this film follows an extended middle-class Bengali family living under one roof, where financial contribution determines social status and respect. When the youngest son brings home his bride from a poor background, her independent spirit clashes with the family's hierarchy, offering support to a sister-in-law who has long endured mistreatment from relatives who measure worth by income alone.
