A shy accounting supervisor in Bombay falls for a confident young woman he keeps encountering at the bus stop, but struggles to work up the nerve to speak to her. When a more assertive coworker starts pursuing her instead, he tries various clumsy schemes, including a bad motorcycle purchase and advice from astrologers and fake spiritual guides, to boost his appeal. Eventually he seeks out an eccentric self-styled mentor in Khandala who trains him to build genuine confidence before he returns to try winning her over properly.
