This documentary follows P. K. Nair, the founder of India's National Film Archive, whose lifelong passion for preserving cinema saved thousands of films from oblivion. Through interviews with prominent Indian and international filmmakers influenced by Nair's work, the film traces his decades-long efforts to collect and restore rare films from India's silent era and beyond, including early masterpieces that would otherwise have been lost. It documents how his archival work shaped Indian cinema and established the historical record of Indian film.
