Down on his luck and desperate for money to treat his ailing sister, a jobless young man drifts into the world of gambling and is drawn into a shady nightclub run by a mysterious boss, where he becomes entangled with a alluring dancer. His growing feelings for a compassionate doctor who runs a free clinic complicate matters further, especially since her wealthy father disapproves of him, and events soon spiral into a murder investigation that threatens to destroy his life.
