Set in rural India, the story follows Radha, a determined mother struggling to raise her children and repay a greedy village moneylender named Sukhilala after her husband abandons the family. As her sons grow up, one becomes upright and responsible while the other turns to banditry, leading to violent confrontations with the moneylender and turmoil within the family and village.
