Set around Chennai's Ranganathan Street, this 2010 Tamil romantic drama follows Jyothi, a village boy who becomes his family's sole provider after his father's death, and Kani, an independent young woman, as they endure grueling working conditions and exploitation at a large textile store. Their bond grows amid harsh treatment from an abusive supervisor, leading to a scandal that upends their jobs and pushes them into the street to find new ways of earning a living. The story is framed by an opening incident in which the pair, now homeless, are struck by an out-of-control vehicle while sleeping on the street.
