Directed by I. V. Sasi — Kamal Haasan · Rajinikanth · Sripriya · Jayabharathi

This 1979 Malayalam fantasy, directed by I. V. Sasi and shot simultaneously in a Tamil version, reimagines the classic tale of Aladdin's lamp. It follows a poor young man named Alavuddin who wins the heart of princess Roshni, putting him at odds with a scheming military commander who also desires her hand and a courtier plotting to seize her for himself. As rivalries and abductions unfold, a magical genie becomes central to the unfolding conflict among the film's tangled romances.

Where to watch in USA

We checked the streaming catalogues and it isn’t on any service we cover — in any country, not just yours. Films leave and return, so this can change.

We check JioHotstar, Eros Now, Sun NXT, Prime Video, ZEE5 and 13 others. If it is streaming somewhere we don’t read, it won’t show up here — tell us and we’ll add it.
