This 2004 Tamil drama by Mani Ratnam, inspired loosely by the life of student leader George Reddy, follows three young men from different social backgrounds in Chennai whose lives intersect after a shooting on Napier Bridge: a hired enforcer trapped in poverty and crime, a fearless student activist resisting political corruption in campus elections, and a privileged, apolitical young man who is drawn into the activist's cause after witnessing the attack. Their intertwined stories, told through a non-linear structure, explore themes of political manipulation, personal transformation, and youth activism against a backdrop of corrupt politicians using violence to control student movements.
