Welcome Obama is a 2013 Telugu drama, directed and scored by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, about a poor single mother named Yashodha who agrees to carry a child for an American woman named Lucy. After a fall during pregnancy raises fears the baby may be affected, Lucy calls off the arrangement, but Yashodha later gives birth to a healthy, fair-skinned son nicknamed 'Obama.' Years afterward, Lucy learns of the boy's existence and returns to India wanting to bring him to America, setting up a conflict with the mother who has since raised him.
