This 1961 Telugu drama, directed by Adurthi Subba Rao and produced by D. Madhusudhana Rao for Annapurna Pictures, follows Suguna, an adopted orphan raised in a household where she faces resentment from her adoptive mother but affection from her younger foster sister Varam. As Suguna trains to become a doctor and navigates romantic entanglements involving Chandram and Dr. Raghunath, family tensions, illness, and financial troubles complicate the bonds between the two sisters and the household around them. The film, starring Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Savitri with music by Pendyala Nageswara Rao, was also simultaneously made in Tamil under a different title.
