This 1990 Hindi fantasy-action film follows Shiva, a young man gifted with mystical snake-charming abilities, who falls in love with a village girl named Paro despite her father's fierce opposition and attempts to have him killed. Unknown to Shiva, his family is entangled in a curse stemming from his father's killing of a shape-shifting serpent years earlier, and Shiva himself is revived through sorcery after a near-fatal snakebite and raised by a mentor versed in black magic. The story unfolds against the backdrop of a local festival tradition involving bride abduction as a path to marriage.
