Set in the forested area of Top Slip in the Western Ghats, the story follows two mural painters, Hari and Umapathy, and a young wildlife photographer, Varsha, whose paths cross when a tigress named Thumbaa wanders in from Kerala with her cub. A dishonest forest official conceals the tiger's presence, since it lacks the tracking device fitted to other tigers, and schemes to capture and sell it. Hari, Uma and Varsha team up with villagers to try to protect Thumbaa and her cub from this plot.
