This 1999 Tamil musical romance follows Kutty, a talented but unrecognized singer, and Rukmini, a college student who becomes drawn to his voice because it reminds her of her late father. After an accident involving Kutty leaves Rukmini blind, he devotes himself to caring for her and secretly working to restore her sight, even as their bond deepens into love and his choices lead him into serious personal sacrifice and legal trouble. Directed by S. Ezhil and starring Vijay and Simran, the story unfolds partly through flashback from a present-day train journey.
