This 2003 Tamil romantic action film follows Thirumalai, a tough but big-hearted mechanic in Chennai who falls for a young woman named Shwetha after a chance New Year's meeting. Her wealthy father, a media magnate, disapproves of the match because of their differing social status and hires a gangster to intimidate Thirumalai, setting off a chain of confrontations involving Thirumalai's friends and neighbors. The story blends romance with action as Thirumalai tries to win over both Shwetha and her disapproving father.
