Set in late-1980s Chennai, the story follows Nalankilli, an outspoken writer devoted to social causes, and Thamarai, a poor milk-seller who quietly admires him. After a chance, mistaken encounter between the two, Thamarai later raises a son alone, and the boy's search for his absent father eventually draws him into Nalankilli's life. The film traces how their paths intertwine across different Tamil Nadu towns over the years.
